Roast profiles, explained
Ever wondered why it matters that those single origin beans are filter roasted?
As coffee roasts the beans caramelise and develop flavour while caffeine and acidity degrades. If you’re interested in knowing more about the difference between light, medium, and darker roasts we recommend checking the link below. What’s important to note is that different grades of roast aren’t exclusive to brewing methods. Roast profiles should be a reference for how a roaster holistically intends for the beans to be used. They should indicate that during the development of this complex blend of coffee origins/varietals/processing/roast temperature someone determined that the final product is best suited for a particular brew method. Realistically though this is only a recommendation. Get familiar with the roasts, the beans, and tasting notes that you enjoy. That knowledge empowers you to use any beans and make them your own.
