What IS coffee?

What IS the coffee in your cup?

No matter what brewing method you use, coffee is: a mixture of soluble and insoluble solids and gases that have been extracted from coffee beans using water. Why does that matter? Because understanding and demystifying coffee will help you to make better brews at home. Simply put, coffee is the product of however you decide to brew your beans. There are so many avenues you can take to adjust this end product in any brewing method and the link we’ve attached below is a fantastic reference to get you started.

If you want to get familiar with your brew you should take the time to learn more about the way the filter or the brew ratio changes the flavours in the cup. Or you should trial different grind sizes and timing your brews to see how that changes the acidity. In the end, there’s no right or wrong way to make coffee because it’s all based on preference.

It takes time and work to determine what any person’s preference is while brewing and that’s why your best resource is to ask your local barista for some tips.
